Compiler's Comment* | | He died of a heart arythmia at the age of 35. He had suffered chest pains while in Miami on business a few days before his death. He had gone to the emergency room there. The doctors could find nothing wrong but suggested he see his doctor when he returned to New York. After his sudden death, Fran found among his papers an appointment he had made with a cardiologist which he did not live long enough to keep.
John had started an air cargo business called AIR BRIDGE shortly before his death. His first flight went out the night he died. Fran, his widow, remained in New York for six months trying to keep the business going. She gave up, however, realizing that the heart of the business was John and the connections that he had made over the years. He had sold group tours for Korean Air Lines and MidEast Air Lines. Everyone who knew John believed he was going to have an unbelievably successful company with Air Bridge. Air Bridge contracted for the movement of cargo using empty planes. The trick was to find freight to fill the plane on its return flight. Fran had quit her job in anticipation of starting a family. She intended to stay home and pursue her creative interests. John had visited three life insurance agents the week of his death but had not decided upon a policy when he died. Fran was left without insurance, a job or savings, which had been put in to this new company. |
