Compiler's Comment | | Earl referred to his wife as Emma in the draft registration. In the census records she was listed as Elizabeth. Was Emma a nickname for his wife? Why was his wife's address in Pueblo, CO and his was in Salida, CO? Were they were separated or were living conditions in Pueblo preferable to what was available in Salida? |

Census 1930* | 9 April 1930 | Earl and Elizabeth were still residing in Salida City when the 1930 Federal Census was enumerated 9 April 1930. The family had moved to 601 E. Street. Their 22 year old son, Jack, was still living with them. Earl was a proprietor of a garage and had completed eighth grade. The family lived in a rented home and owned a radio. There were two lodgers: Fred D. Diller and Gordon A. Hare.6 |

However, his death certificate states his residence was 123 Jasper Street, #1, Leucadia, CA. He died at Scripps Memorial Hospital from acute cardio-respiratory failure as a result of a an accident which caused an acute, traumatic subdural hematoma. His remains were cremated on 24 Aug 1970 at La Vista Memorial Park, National City. His widow Mathilde provided the information for the death certificate.2,9 |
